Cats, books, life is sweet... and so is dinner!

There are at least 808 library cats on the planet. Cats living happily in libraries, contributing to the quality of experience.  Cats, laps and books just naturally go together.

Not just cats, but dogs have an important place in libraries, and with readers around the globe.  There are many dogs that work in reading programs. Pets offer a way to help children learn about the joys of books, of holding a book in your hands, feeling the pages, becoming lost in the magic of imagination instead of just watching it happen on a screen In Baysville, until very sadly Princess passed away, the Library was honoured to have a dog who came to sit with the children while they read to her.  Vicki's dog was such a popular asset, a lovely, warm way for children to spend time reading. Non-judgmental, always supportive, with a lovely wagging tail, Princess's reading program was a big hit, and she will be missed.  If we know Vicki, she'll be back with a new dog, bringing joy to children in the library!

The Baysville Friends of the Library are holding their Silent Auction and Dinner event  this Saturday. Hugely popular, this event usually sells out fast, with tickets at $50 and dinner catered by Spencer's Tall Trees.  The theme this year is "Black and White" and it will be a great evening out.

Napster has been honoured by a request for a print, and has provided -- in honour of Princess' memory -- his work, "Yoga, Downward Dog" to this noble cause.
